SHAPING FUTURES, through YOUTH Mentorship, Empowerment and Innovation.

Africa has many unemployed youth. In Kenya, we work with Maasai youth who face multiple vulnerabilities such as poverty, low literacy, lack of employability skills, lack of opportunities in their locations, and near zero social capital from family. Among the Maasai, overreliance on cattle herding as the primary economic activity has worsened the situation due to prolonged drought.

In Kenya we are engaging the Youth and empowering them for development

Among the youth we work with are the Maasai youth. The indigenous Maasai youth face multiple vulnerabilities such as poverty, low literacy, lack of employability skills, lack of opportunities in their locations, and near zero social capital from family.
Our organization is developing a comprehensive youth program to empower youth in innovation and entrepreneurship to alleviate poverty.

Cultivating Youth Engagement Programs

Each community has a unique context. Empowering youth among the Maasai people is critical as men make most decisions. To transform the youth, we initiated soccer tournaments, a game loved in this community like the rest of Kenya. Through this tournament, we discuss topics affecting young people, empower them to succeed in school, and teach them the Bible.

Through our annual tournament, we have witnessed healthier interactions, improved confidence, and skills transfer.

Youth Exchange Programs

PIPES organizes international trips involving young people where they are given opportunities to travel and participate in empowering their peers. We've organized youth trips to Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, Rwanda, Burundi, and Kenya, where young people have participated. The youth interact, learn from each other, and transfer skills to each other. They teach English and organize VBS, career fairs, and mentorship programs.

Kenya Youth Next Steps: Youth in Agribusiness

Our immediate plans with the indigenous Maasai youth is to introduce community-driven solutions to create jobs for the youth by leveraging the community's land resources for agribusiness. Youth will be trained, mentored, and handheld to initiate agribusiness activities, access markets, establish partnerships, and create jobs for their self-employment.
